The 'Aquaria Grande' Apartment Complex in Mumbai Features Swimming Pool Balconies
Architects behind the 'Aquaria Grande' apartment complex in Mumbai are dreaming big, and making quite a "splash" with their bold design.
The dreams for the 37-story complex feature swimming pools which are enclosed in glass, instead of balconies. The inspiration for this was a result of a collaboration between Hong Kong-based architect James Law and Indian real estate company Wadhwa Group.
The complex would have 200 apartments, three levels of car parking, a gym and sauna.
The concept seems amazing, and personally, I would love to have a swimming pool for a balcony, but I am not quite sure of the logistics in this endeavor. One of the bloggers at Gizmodo, Jesus Diaz, has my shared apprehension and feels as though "no matter what you call this, I would call it crazy" and it is an "architectural nightmare", "deadly accident waiting to happen".
Visually, this is stunning, but practically it seems as though these designer's "wet dreams" may be a just little too big to fulfill.
