The 'Flirty Girl' Axe Commercial
Clearly, Axe's target consumer is the young adult male, and the grooming company is doing an excellent job of attracting men to their products.
I love their commercials. They tend to be humorous and sexy, sending a message to men that implies if they use Axe, they will gain confidence and become more attractive to women. It's very difficult to find a better marketing strategy targeting men than that.
Axe's 'Flirty Girl' ad particularly stands out to me because I can relate to the boyfriend in it. It shows a couple at a bar (possibly in a nightclub). The sexy woman is flirting with another man, while the boyfriend holds her drink and nervously yet patiently waits for her to begin giving him attention.
I love doing things for my girlfriend, so I'd hold a drink for her (because I'm awesome). Also, I'm confident enough in myself to not get upset with her talking to another man. The only difference is I wouldn't casually stand there while it's happening.
Around 35 seconds into the ad, the situation begins to look much better.
The boyfriend turns to his right, and unexpectedly notices his girlfriend flirting with another woman. They quickly talk with each other as a group.
The young man looks much happier. I would too. Most guys would probably like seeing their girlfriend flirt with another woman. I would love it.
So, the commercial basically tells me that if I use Axe Cool Metal, I will have self-confidence, keep my hot, flirty girlfriend happy, and have a threesome with another beautiful woman.
Now that I think about it, I need some new shower gel.
