Woman Charged With Libel For Harassing Emails

In Ottowa Marisol Simoes was convicted of libeling another woman, Elayna Katz. Katz wrote 2 reviews on Simoes’ restaurant, telling of her negative experience at the location.

In turn, Simoes wrote sexually harassing emails and sent them to the CEO and board of directions at Katz’s place of work.

In addition to the emails, Simoes also set up a fraudulent dating profile in Katz’s name, using her picture and information.

Police followed the email’s IP address and it lead them to Simoes’ computer. She then accused her own husband of sending the emails.

However, her efforts were pointless because she was convicted of libel by Ontario Court Justice. Her sentence hearing will take place on November 8th.
