Old Man Accidentally Grows a Field of Marijuana

A 74-year-old farmer wanted to plant sunflowers in a field that he normally uses for growing potatoes. He didn't have any sunflower seeds handy so he decided to scatter bird seed around the field instead.

The bird seed mix that he used contained hemp, resulting in more than 1,000 cannabis plants. Holy Pot!

Neighbors called police to the field of 10-foot tall plants, where the farmer had no idea he was growing marijuana.

Once police spoke to him, he destroyed the plants with his tractor.

Police spokesperson Stefan Brabetz told NBC that the man's case still has to go in front of a judge, who will decide whether or not to file formal charges.

Aww I hope this poor man doesn't get charged for not knowing his sunflowers were really illegal drugs.
