Policeman Leaves Cell Door Unlocked and Two Prisoners Walk Out

Two male suspects reportedly easily walked out of the North Reading Police Department on Monday morning.

Where were the police to stop them?

It took a call from the mother of one of the suspects for police to realize that they were missing. Giangrande’s mother called police saying her son was in a family member’s attic.

How did the pair escape?

Chief Murphy admits it wasn’t just a mechanical error, but human error that caused the incident as well.

In other words, a policeman left the jail cell door unlocked, and no one was guarding the cell, so the two prisoners had no trouble simply walking out and leaving the building.

Oops!

The officer responsible has since been retrained on how to properly shut the cell door, even though the officer is a veteran of the department and has been shutting the door the same way for years.

Well, people make mistakes. LOL!

The North Reading Police Department has been retrained on shutting cell doors in response to this incident.
