Movie Theaters Now Serving Alcohol
I love going to the movies, especially when I enjoy the film.

The gigantic screens, clear high-volume speakers all around, tasty popcorn and slurpees, and darkness make for an exciting experience. Theaters are a great place for couples to spend time as well, although I tend to lose focus on the movie when I'm with my girlfriend.

The movie theater industry has suffered in the last decade due to home-theater competition and other new technology that bridge the experience gap between watching a film at home or in a movie theater.

In an effort to attract more customers, and increase profits at the concession stand, some movie theaters are now offering adult beverages on their menus.

Now I can watch my actions movies with some nice cold beer! I'm thrilled with that combo.

Cinemas in the Miami Valley and southwest Ohio are aggressively competing with home-theaters.

Rave Cinemas Dayton South at 195 Mall Woods Drive near the Dayton Mall in Dayton, Ohio started serving wine, beer, frozen margaritas and frozen rum and Cokes more than two months ago.

Rave Dayton South General Manager Jeff Klaene explained how the plan has been working so far.

“We are a pilot project here". “If it works well here, where we did not previously have a bar, this model could be rolled out at other sites” in the theater chain. Customer response so far has been “very positive". “Guests are still amazed that they can have a drink at the movies.”

Klaene said the introduction of adult beverages has increased concession sales, although its impact on attendance is harder to determine.

I'm not amazed, but I'm definitely excited and hope movie theaters in the Jersey Shore area start moving in on the trend so I can take advantage of it.
