Adrenaline Rush
Holiday Inn's Swimming Pool in the Sky
People love swimming, and everyone appreciates a good view. At Holiday Inn Shanghai Pudong Kangqiao in China, you can experience both at the same time.

Part of the indoor pool, designed by Singaporean firm Chan Sau Yan Associates and located at the top of the twenty-four story hotel, extends out from the main building and is suspended mid-air. Its floor is constructed with toughened glass.

The pool gives people a sense of swimming in the sky as they look down at pedestrians passing by. Passers-by below can look up and see the swimmers in the pool. "I felt as if I was flying in the sky -- I could also enjoy the beautiful scenery of Pudong from here ... it's so cool and wonderful," a swimmer told CCTV.

This sounds awesome, but I'm sure some people would find it scary to be swimming twenty-four stories above a busy street.

"The Holiday Inn Shanghai branch said it gathered input from various architects and even aerospace experts while constructing this sky-high glass-bottomed water container to ensure its safety".

I'm sold!

InterContinental Hotels Group, parent company of Holiday Inn, had serious goals for this pool and hotel guests using it. "We wanted to provide our guests a unique swimming experience, and let them feel they're vacationing even in a bustling city," explained a company spokesperson.

The pool is thirty meters long (about ninety-eight feet), six meters wide (twenty feet) and 1.5 meters deep (five feet).

It is a one-of-a-kind in China. Swimming with a little adrenaline rush.
