If you thought the roads were dangerous with people texting while driving, let's talk about the city sidewalks with people texting while walking
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, 1,152 people were treated for distracted walking injuries in 2011. This number could be much lower than it should be because not all people reported the injuries or even told doctors the cause of them while being treated.
"Those people who brought us texting-while-driving laws probably have a case, too, for banning texting-while-walking — traffic deaths have gone down since 2010, but pedestrian deaths and injuries have spiked 4.2 and 19%, respectively".
I've seen people do some pretty stupid things texting while walking. Even myself for example, one time I was texting and I walked right into a stop sign. Painful and embarrassing!
I know it may seem like a wild idea, but when you're walking, I would suggest looking at where you're headed.
