WTF Wednesday
Mindy Meyer, 22, Running for New York State Senate was Inspired by 'Legally Blond'
Just stop it already. WTF is the world coming to?!
At 22-years-old, Mindy Meyer is running for the New York State Senate. The self-described "Diva" has a LMFAO-themed campaign slogan (in sparkling GIF form), and says she was inspired to get into politics by Legally Blonde.
The Orthodox Jewish law student from Flatbush is running on the Republican and Conservative Party lines against Democratic State Sen. Kevin Parker.
This girl has the most beyond-ridiculous campaign website that has ever existed. "Mindy Meyer for NYS Senate," reads a glittery banner across the top of her bright pink site. "I'm Senator and I Know It."
LMFAO's "I'm Sexy And I Know It" plays on repeat.
Click on "ISSUES" and underneath a leopard print "Diva of the District" header, Meyer details her stance on everything from issues like Stop-And-Frisk, to Poverty and Unemployment-- next to which is a Hunger Games-inspired picture of Meyer as Katniss Everdeen, holding a bow and arrow.
And what may seem like an unserious campaign, however, is garnering the serious support of Meyer's elders. Jerry Kassar, chairman of Brooklyn's Conservative Party, stated on Meyer's site,
Meyer commented on why she decided to enter into politics at such a young age. She explains,
Really?! REALLY? Kill me. I can't help but have an overwhelming sense of dread for the future.

"We endorsed her. We filed her petitions on the conservative party line and we anticipate her being a strong candidate. We were very excited after we met with her and I say she will be formidable and a strong contender. She has a maturity and an ability well beyond her years."
Meyer commented on why she decided to enter into politics at such a young age. She explains,
"“I’m trying to attract a young crowd and recruit more young people. People in politics are out of touch with the younger generation, who are not voting, are not registered.”
“My idea is to make it very contemporary, funky, cool, not like a typical senator’s website. Have you been to Kevin Parker’s website? You could fall asleep when you go to it, everything’s just red, white and blue.”
“To be honest with you, the reason why I initially wanted to attend law school is because I’d watched Legally Blonde and saw Elle Woods. She showed me you could go to Harvard and make it sophisticated. Pink is my favorite color, so that’s technically my inspiration, everything pink."
Really?! REALLY? Kill me. I can't help but have an overwhelming sense of dread for the future.
