UPDATE: Police Say Apartment of Colorado Shooter James Holmes is Booby Trapped

A television video showed officers arriving at 24-year-old James Holmes' house. The video captured an officer in a helmet and vest breaking the window of the Colorado movie theater shooter’s third-floor apartment.

Police have evacuated the area surrounding Holmes’ apartment because they suspect that the home is booby-trapped.

Holmes, who killed at least 12 people and wounded 50 others at the midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises, told officers that he had explosives stored at his apartment when he was arrested.

Holmes’ mother confirmed to ABC that Holmes is the attacker, saying ‘you have the right guy. I need to call the police… I need to fly out to Colorado.’
Police were forced to evacuate Holmes’ apartment block and five surrounding buildings, which is located four miles from the tragedy in Aurora.

Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates says bomb technicians are determining how to disarm flammable or explosive material in apartment.

Oates said that pictures from inside the home show sophisticated devices.

FBI agents responded to the shooting. The FBI agents and police used a hook and a ladder fire truck to reach inside of the building, which is shown on footage from the scene.

Police situated a camera at the end of a 12-foot pole inside of the apartment and were watching footage this morning.

A law enforcement source told CBS that police saw what looked like ‘buckets of extra ammunition and some chemicals’ inside Holmes’ apartment.

Residents said they heard a small explosion when a police robot entered the booby-trapped home.

Police have Holmes in custody. The FBI said that there is no evidence to tie the attack to any terrorist group. Officials told NBC that Holmes is not on any watch list that would have alerted authorities that he was dangerous.
